When looking for a place to stay in Interlaken, we wanted something warm, welcoming, and conveniently located.Hotel R?ssli came highly recommended by friends, and after our stay, we completely understood why. Though we initially considered staying closer to Interlaken Ost, their insistence on this charming hotel near Interlaken West turned out to be a great decision. It provided the perfect base for our day trips to Lauterbrunnen, Gimmelwald, Grindelwald, and Spiez—all easily accessible from here.
Location and Accessibility
One of the best aspects of Hotel R?ssli is its location. While some travelers prefer to stay closer to Interlaken Ost due to its proximity to train connections heading deeper into the Jungfrau region, staying near Interlaken West proved to be just as convenient. The hotel is only a short walk from the train station, making it easy to hop on a train or bus to explore nearby towns and scenic spots. Additionally, the area surrounding the hotel is peaceful, offering a more relaxed atmosphere away from the crowds.
First Impressions and Check-In Experience
Upon arrival, we were greeted by a charming Swiss-style facade that immediately set the tone for a warm and cozy stay. Check-in was smooth and efficient, with the staff welcoming us with genuine warmth.
We arrived well before check-in time, but Wilma at the reception ensured we felt at home. She directed us to a room where we could store our luggage and introduced us to the common kitchen area, where guests can enjoy complimentary tea and coffee throughout the day. We also appreciated the shared bathrooms on each floor, allowing us to freshen up before heading out to explore the city without delay.
Rooms and Comfort
The rooms at Hotel R?ssli exude the warmth of a traditional Swiss chalet. With beautiful wooden interiors, comfortable bedding, and ample space, our room felt like a home away from home. The rustic charm combined with modern amenities provided the perfect balance of comfort and authenticity.

Each room is thoughtfully equipped with all the essentials, including a comfortable bed, a desk, a wardrobe, and an en-suite bathroom with a shower. While the rooms are not overly luxurious, they are immaculately clean and cozy, perfect for unwinding after a day of sightseeing. Some rooms even have balconies, offering lovely views of the surrounding mountains and rooftops of Interlaken. We chose a Double Room.
Lounge and Common Areas
One of our favorite features of the hotel was its inviting lounge area. Guests can enjoy complimentary coffee and tea throughout the day, which is a fantastic perk after a chilly day exploring the Swiss Alps. For those who prefer something else, beer and soft drinks are available for purchase.

The lounge also provides cutlery, a dining space, and a microwave, allowing guests to bring in their own food and enjoy a relaxed meal. This is especially useful for travelers who prefer a more budget-friendly approach to dining. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it a great place to meet fellow travelers or simply unwind with a book.
Breakfast Experience
Breakfast at Hotel R?ssli is a delightful experience. Each morning, we were treated to a well-stocked buffet featuring a selection of fresh bread, croissants, cheese, cold cuts, yogurt, cereals, and fruit. There were also boiled eggs and a selection of jams and spreads. The coffee was excellent, and the overall quality of the breakfast was impressive for a three-star hotel.

One of the best parts of breakfast was the presence of Jean-Louis, the hotel’s owner, who made sure every guest felt welcome. He would go around greeting everyone with his warm smile, engaging in friendly conversations, and ensuring we had everything we needed.
Hospitality: The Heart of Hotel R?ssli

While the hotel itself is lovely, what truly made our stay exceptional was the warmth of the owner, Jean-Louis. His kindness and contagious smile made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. He was always present during breakfast and in the evenings, greeting guests and engaging in heartfelt conversations. Talking with him became one of the highlights of our stay—he shared stories, made us laugh, and treated every guest like family. His hospitality left a lasting impression that we will cherish for years to come.
A special mention goes to Wilma, who went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Her attentiveness and generosity added to the hotel’s welcoming atmosphere.
Value for Money
Considering the cozy accommodations, convenient location, and outstanding hospitality, Hotel R?ssli offers great value for money. While it may not be a luxury hotel, it provides a warm and inviting stay that truly enhances the travel experience. The added perks, such as free coffee and tea, a well-equipped lounge, and a satisfying breakfast, make it a worthwhile choice for travelers seeking comfort on a reasonable budget.
Final Thoughts
The memories we made at Hotel R?ssli—filled with warmth, laughter, and meaningful conversations—will stay with us always. If you’re looking for a cozy, welcoming stay in Interlaken with a personal touch, this is the place to be. We couldn’t recommend it more!
Would we stay here again? Absolutely, without hesitation.

And if you do choose to stay here based on our recommendation, here are two more things you absolutely must try! First, have a meal at a nearby restaurant called ‘Lucky Ming’—this became one of our favourite dinner spots, and the family that runs it is incredibly sweet. Second, take an evening stroll by the river and maybe even stop by Coop to grab a Snickers ice cream bar. Let’s just say this became our little ritual every night after returning to Hotel R?ssli, and it made our stay even more special!
