“It’s not about what size you wear. It’s about how you wear your size.”
If you are a curvy girl (like myself), one of your greatest fears would be to find clothes that fit right. Don’t fret and feel like you can’t dress as fashionably as your peers. The fashion scene is evolving and more brands are now making plus size clothes to perfectly fit full figured women. Remember that nothing is more flattering than a confident attitude and a warm smile. Let’s look at what is essential to have in your closet and which out of those would be the best for you:
- Tops
Black is undeniably the slimming colour, but it is recommended that go out and buy some bold colours, fun prints and trendy styles. Choose an empire waist top that will accentuate your waist and create an hourglass shape around your waist. You can also take a look at tank tops and halter tops as they emphasize your cleavage and de-emphasize wide shoulders. A wrap top can be another good option. Wraps will conceal the small flaws around your waistline.
- Dresses
Empire waists and A-line dresses do the trick as they accentuate the curves. Stay away from a boxy style dress.
- Skirts
An A-line skirt is the best style as it gently flares out and flatters a larger hip. You could opt for a ruffled bottom but it is recommended that you push aside the frumpy style.
- Jeans and Pants
Boot cuts do not cling on and are therefore a good choice. You can pick an embellished style just for fun. A straight leg worn teamed up with a long embellished top would look extremely flattering. For summer and spring season, Capri pants are perfect. Steer clear of baggy styles as they will end up making your legs look shapeless.
- Experiment with Styles and Colours
An all black wardrobe is the biggest disaster! When buying plus size clothes, be flexible and experiment with various styles and colours. You can try lacy kimono tops, animal printed kimono tops with beaded belts, printed tunics, ponchos, lacy and floral printed dolman tops, blouse with bat-wing sleeves.
